Route Itinerary
Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Begin your journey in the lush rainforest, starting at the Machame Gate (1,640 meters). Trek through the fascinating terrain, encountering various plant species and dazzling birdlife along the way. After a few hours of hiking, reach Machame Camp (2,980 meters), where you’ll spend the night under the starry African sky.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Difficulty Level: Moderate to Challenging
As the path steepens, the scenery transitions into moorlands dotted with heather and unique Lobelia plants. After approximately six hours of trekking, reach Shira Camp (3,840 meters). Admire panoramic vistas of the Shira Plateau and rest for the night in your cozy campsite.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
