Route Itinerary

Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Kickstart your journey at Machame Gate (1,640 meters), the starting point of the Machame Route. Trek through the enchanting rainforest, encountering diverse flora and fauna along the way. After approximately six hours of hiking, reach Machame Camp (2,980 meters), where you’ll spend the night under the starry African sky.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Difficulty Level: Moderate to Challenging
Ascend through a captivating trail that transitions from the rainforest to the heather-strewn moorlands. Delight in panoramic views of the Shira Plateau as you approach Shira Camp (3,840 meters), an ideal spot to rest and recharge amidst extraordinary natural beauty.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
