Route Itinerary

Day 1: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Commence your trek at Rongai Gate (1,950 meters), the starting point of the Rongai Route. Embark on a scenic trail that winds through lush, verdant forests, home to an abundance of wildlife. After approximately three to four hours of hiking, reach Simba Camp (2,650 meters). Settle into your campsite and immerse yourself in the serenity of the surrounding wilderness.

Day 2: Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Difficulty Level: Moderate
Continue your ascent on the Rongai Route, gradually leaving the forest behind and stepping into the vast open moorlands. Encounter unique plant species and enjoy panoramic views of the Kibo volcano. After around six to seven hours of trekking, arrive at Kikelewa Camp (3,630 meters), a remote and peaceful spot offering breathtaking vistas.

Day 3: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Embark on a challenging day of hiking, as the trail leads you through undulating terrain with steep ascents. Marvel at the surreal landscapes of the Saddle, a high-altitude desert between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.
