Route Itinerary
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Begin your journey at Rongai Gate (1,950 meters), the starting point of the Rongai Route. Traverse through enchanting forests, filled with mesmerizing wildlife and stunning flora. After approximately three to four hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Simba Camp (2,650 meters), nestled amidst picturesque surroundings. Enjoy the tranquility of the campsite as you rest for the night.
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Continue your ascent on the Rongai Route through diverse landscapes, bidding farewell to the lush forest and venturing into vast open moorlands. Admire the panoramic vistas of the Kibo volcano and witness unique plant species along the way. After around six to seven hours of hiking, you’ll reach Kikelewa Camp (3,630 meters), offering stunning views and a peaceful setting.
Difficulty Level: Moderate to Challenging
Embark on a challenging trek that takes you through undulating terrain with steep ascents. Traverse the mesmerizing landscapes of the Saddle, a high-altitude desert nestled between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. After approximately four to five hours of hiking, you’ll arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,310 meters), situated near a beautiful alpine lake. Rest and acclimatize in preparation for the forthcoming ascent.

Rise before midnight to embark on the ultimate challenge of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa. Brace yourself for freezing temperatures and the physically demanding climb up steep slopes. Upon reaching the summit, bask in the surreal beauty of the sunrise over the stunning savanna below.
