Trip Overview
Tanzania’s greatest animal populations can be found in the Selous and Ruaha, which are less well-known than their northern equivalents. The variety of landforms, which range from wetlands to rocky outcrops to Baobab trees and from desert-like savannah to wetlands, provide constantly shifting areas of interest and also translate into a vast variety of A-list fauna. Families with older kids or teenagers will find this to be a natural choice as the exciting boat safaris and enjoyable game drives add to the adventure.

Day by Day Itinerary
After landing in Dar es Salaam, travel by taxi to Nyerere National Park, which is just a 45-minute flight away from Tanzania’s thriving metropolis.
Your temporary residence will be the effortlessly chic Siwandu Camp on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, where opulent tented suites provide a back-to-nature vibe while still providing all the conveniences of a first-class safari experience. Since the camp is unfenced and might be home to a variety of wildlife at night, a family-tented suite provides interconnecting rooms, which is crucial for kids.
The cozy main room or the shady pool are the ideal places to unwind following your safari. Children six and older are welcome at the camp, and those older than 16 can participate in walking safaris and fly-camping activities.
For safari-goers who are inclined to take risks, Nyerere National Park is a true refuge. A safari experience like no other can be had in this park, which is three times the size of South Africa’s famous Kruger National Park and home to some of Africa’s largest and least-harmed wildlife populations. It is doubtful that you will run into any other tourists while on safari in Nyerere, allowing for a tranquil and genuine experience.
Due to its outstanding landscape, children will enjoy the variety of game activities and wildlife they will witness, such as boat excursions on the river and game drives in open-sided cars. It is best to travel during the dry season (July to October), when a surprising concentration of wildlife congregates around water sources, allowing for regular and exciting game sightings that keep kids interested.
After an early-morning activity with Siwandu, they will take you to the airport for your around one and a half-hour journey to Ruaha.
Compare Ruaha’s more desert-like environment, which is home to savannah flats, rocky outcrops, and bizarre baobab trees, to Nyerere’s lush and watery terrain. Additionally, Ruaha National Park is home to Tanzania’s greatest population of elephants, a perennially popular game with both adults and children.
Your final stop is the opulent Ikuka Safari Camp, which boasts stunning vistas while being positioned atop an escarpment in the middle of the park. Children above the age of seven are welcome at the camp, and the family banda may accommodate up to five people.
During your stay, there are twice daily activities included, with game drives in open-sided vehicles taking up the majority of your time. For those older than 16, however, walking safaris are also an option.
Families will enjoy the wonderful wildlife viewing in this park, which has a strong population of lions, elephants, leopards, and crocodiles.
Time to relax at the beach is most definitely in order after spending the better part of a week on safari.
You will be taken by Ikuka Safari Lodge to the airport in time for your internal flight to Zanzibar. The flight is stunning, especially as you get closer to Zanzibar and can see the blue waves lapping at the island.
When you arrive in Zanzibar, a driver will greet you and take you to Baraza Resort & Spa, where you’ll spend the next five nights in an all-inclusive two-bedroom villa. It takes about an hour to get from the airport to the all-inclusive resort, which is situated amid lovely gardens along a long stretch of white sand beach on the Michamvi Peninsula on the eastern coast of the island.
Baraza offers 30 different types of villas. Families should choose a two-bedroom villa with a garden view or upgrade to a villa with a Sultan’s Sea view.
Baraza is one of the greatest family-friendly destinations on the island because to its various amenities and ideal lodging options. A beautiful sandy beach, sheltered lagoon, swimming pool, gardens, a water sports hub, and a kids’ club are all present. There are additional options for child minding and babysitting. On one of Tanzania’s gorgeous Spice Islands, families may unwind in paradise, lay by the infinity pool, swim on pristine reefs, or simply read a book on the beach while gentle sea breezes dance across the pages.
Your departure from Tanzania takes place today. It’s time to say goodbye to the ocean breezes and head to Zanzibar Airport to meet your international aircraft. You’re probably already thinking back on your journey at this point.
