Trip Overview

On a custom trip of the wildest game reserves and national parks in northern Tanzania, such as Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti, you can encounter the Big Five. Some of the top lodges and locales are where you’ll be staying. The Great Migration can be seen, and you can learn about regional initiatives to conserve wildlife and the local communities. Your ideal safari vacation is waiting.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

You will be welcomed at the Kilimanjaro Airport, picked up, and driven to the Arusha Coffee Lodge, which is situated in the Mount Meru foothills. In order to acquire a feel for living in Tanzania, you might want to spend your first day wandering about the city of Arusha. You can see Maasai men wearing traditional shukas and women in brilliantly colored robes selling avocados and roasting corn all across town.

As an alternative, you might like to unwind in your lodge’s picturesque mountain setting, which features a posh pool and on-site spa. The property is hidden within a coffee plantation, and if you so choose, you can take a tour of the plantation.

Day 2: Travel to Tarangire National Park and Safari

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tarangire National Park to start your safari adventure. There, you will meet your guide.

Travel through the park to the Kuro Tarangire Camp, which is located in the center of the national park and offers rustic luxury.

Your two nights will be spent at Kuro Tarangire, which is located close to the Tarangire River’s banks in a grove of Acacia and Kigelia trees. It is situated in a great area of the park and consists of just six roomy, elegant safari tents that are evenly spaced out in the bushveld. You may observe the rhythmic movement of animals as it moves through the park from the western hills to the eastern wetlands and from the north to the south along the river’s edge.

Day 3: Safari in Tarangire National Park

You’ll have the entire day to experience Tarangire if you get an early start. Tarangire safaris focus on getting you outside as soon as possible. Drive your specially made car across the swamps or the woods, or go out on foot from camp.

Outside of the Serengeti habitat, Tarangire National Park is renowned for having the highest concentration of species. This 1,100 square mile park, southwest of Arusha, is named after the river that runs through it and is occasionally regrettably overlooked by visitors en route to Tanzania’s more well-known national parks.

Included today is a night drive in the park, giving you the opportunity to seek for rare nocturnal wildlife.Underrated Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s parks and reserves since it is considerably quieter than many of others, so your safari experience will be calm and more real.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park Safari and Ngorongoro Crater Rim

After breakfast, you’ll game drive to the Ngorongoro Crater by leaving Tarangire and entering Lake Manyara National Park.

Among other large mammals, Lake Manyara is home to herds of elephants, pods of bathing hippos, and lions that climb trees. You may also witness the many different bird species that travel here during the rainy season, including flamingos. You should not miss Lake Manyara’s abundant fauna and vegetation, which may be found in a variety of habitats from marshes to savannahs.

Exit the park in the late afternoon, enter the Ngorongoro Crater Area Authority (NCAA), and climb the rugged western side of the rim to your accommodation by negotiating the steep sides.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Over two million years ago, a sizable volcano fell, leaving behind the Ngorongoro Crater. The NCAA now holds UNESCO World Heritage status because of the area’s rich biodiversity and abundance of wildlife, including populations of endangered species.

A descend to the crater floor will allow you to see grazing gazelles, stampeding zebra, and bathing hippos in Lake Magadi. The views from the crater rim are breathtaking. Spotted hyenas, lions, and both black and golden-backed jackals are examples of predators.

Even seasoned safari aficionados find the descend into the crater to be humbling and enjoyable.

Day 6: Fly to the Serengeti National Park

Depending on the season, we will recommend the appropriate lodging and location if the Serengeti trip’s main objective is to spot the Great Migration.

However, the northern Serengeti is a terrific bet during the busy months of July through October, and today you will tell your private guide farewell at Lake Manyara Airstrip before taking off for the north. The flight itself is a magnificent experience, and as you cross the Serengeti, keep an eye out for the silhouettes of elephant, giraffe, and herds of zebra and wildebeest.

You will be welcomed by a guide from Lamai Serengeti, your camp for the following three nights, when you arrive at Kogatende Airstrip.

Lamai Serengeti is tucked away among the famous Kogakuria Kopje’s rocks. There are expansive views of the area, and from late July to October, when around one-fourth of the year passes, this is where you can see the migration right outside your door.

Day 7 - 8: Safari in the Northern Serengeti

You have two full days to take part in shared safari activities in Tanzania’s most well-known national park, the Serengeti, which is known for its abundant species and seemingly endless horizons.

You may see the Great Migration in the Serengeti, one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders and one of the Ten Natural Travel Wonders of the World, which is the world’s greatest migration of terrestrial mammals. Every year, millions of wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, and other herbivores travel from the Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara and back. The legendary performance is referred to as “The Greatest Show on Earth.”

Any Tanzania safari must include a visit to the Serengeti, home to stomping herds of wildebeest and zebra and predators that pursue their prey.

Day 9: Departure

You will be taken to the airport for your flight back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro after one last opportunity for a safari in the Serengeti.

You could choose to stay an extra night in the city or get there in time for a flight that leaves in the evening, depending on your preferences and the available flight times.
