Route Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Marangu
Upon your arrival in Marangu, a town situated at the foothills of Kilimanjaro, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening. Take this time to acclimatize to the altitude and prepare yourself for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 2: Marangu to Mandara Hut (2,700m / 8,858ft)
Difficulty Level: Moderate
After breakfast, meet your experienced guide and start your trek through the verdant rainforest. Marvel at the diverse flora and fauna surrounding you as you ascend towards the first hut, Mandara Hut. The hike today is relatively gentle and serves as an ideal warm-up for the days to come. Overnight at Mandara Hut.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720m / 12,205ft)
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Continue your climb through the enchanting rainforest until you reach the heath zone. The landscape transforms as you leave the forest behind, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. Arrive at Horombo Hut, your home for the night, and relax while enjoying the impressive alpine scenery.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,703m / 15,430ft)
Difficulty Level: Challenging
Today’s trek takes you through the alpine desert, characterized by sparse vegetation and rocky terrain. As you ascend higher, the air becomes thinner, making the climb more arduous. Reach Kibo Hut, located near the barren saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, and spend the night here, preparing for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895m / 19,341ft) and descent to Marangu
Difficulty Level: Extremely challenging
The highlight of your journey awaits as you push yourself to reach the iconic Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Wake up in the middle of the night for a challenging climb under the starry sky, with the aid of headlamps, to reach the summit at sunrise. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Kibo Hut and continuing down to Marangu, where a well-deserved rest and celebration await.
